The NDIS and DSP are not designed to be navigated by people with energy limited conditions. The paperwork and decision making is often insurmountable.

Accessibility for people with energy limits and impairments are still not considered in work and school.

Every business and government body does this. I’ve been told I can’t get eg a refund unless I come in person and when I tell a business that’s impossible they don’t know what to say or do. Accessibility is more than a ramp; businesses and government need to catch up.

Prof Ponting: It is essential that each country has a national ME/CFS strategy due to three factors: 1. High prevalence 2. Large social and economic burden 3. Future proofing. High probability of another pandemic in the next 25 years leading to further post infectious diseases.

Prof Ponting: Why ME genetics? 1) Pharmaceutical companies need genetics to progress their work. It doubles the likelyhood of success of finding a pharmaceutical target. 2) It is unbiased – it is not built on pre-existing ideas. It can help identify areas in the body that are involved in ME/CFS.

I’m glad Bernard is Chair of the group but I’m just so uncomfortable/have deep distrust of RACGP given their submission on scoping of guidelines in April 2025 which was RACGPs usual dismissal type approach. And then in Sept 2025 they announced this group. I hope it’s good, I really do, but I’m wary!

In my experience the Senators staff have better knowledge of MECFS than most GPs have.

This is a critical point. I’m so glad Tracy mentioned this. Supported disability and non supported disability needs to be acknowledged more in society. It has become a thorn in my side topic for me. Support means the world, and not enough pwME have support.
