Finally got a hold of something really special: Royal Space Force on VHD! Releasing on 1987-06-21, this beat the LD to market and was the very first home release of the film. There are estimated to be less than about 500 copies out there, as Bandai abandoned VHD almost immediately after.

Deep Dives! This time is a wide selection, with a good number of the discs having been nearly impossible to find for awhile. So if you missed out on some of these before, now's the time to get them!

Packaging previews of the first two Tamago Gundan kits weโll be launching next week at Wonder Festival US. These are designed for more experience modelers or those looking to get into resin kits, not hard to build but not snap fit.

I stopped by Paper Pushers in Seattle today. From their website: "Paper Pushers Print Shop is a bookstore and community space stocking zines, artist books, prints, and other independent small-press publications." I took a bunch of pictures.

We've been talking about garage kits long enough, so it was probably time to make our own? Featuring designs and artwork by superdeformer, we'll have a couple different versions available next week at Wonder Festival US in Atlanta, GA.

On the last day of my trip, on my way to the airport I was barely able to meet the person who runs the Tomcat's Big Adventure twitter account (and the manager of the IP?). He reached out days before, offering to give me some posters as a gift. A good opportunity to switch out my posters!๐

I went to this because Nobuyuki Ohnishi (lithographs for the OP and ED of Royal Space Force) was one of the artists whose work was displayed. He also showed up in person, so I along with some other Japanese friends got to chat with him. (Well, they did most of the chatting and I mostly listened)

I got to meet Akase-sensei in person and there I talked to her and her non-anime fan acquaintance for 2+ hours on a variety of topics, in particular 80s anime. She's apparently around my age too and also into older anime. Got to talk about Oshii, Patlabor, Dezaki, Gamba, Aim for the Ace, and more...

If anyone reading this happens to be near or in Tokyo, and happens to be a fan of Yuriko Akase (Sazan & Comet Girl, Nightmare Busters), then I highly recommend checking the exhibit out. Or even if you're not familiar with her work, check it out anyway because her art work is really great.

Fresh off the 10-min Osamu Dezaki retrospective. Most of the information is well covered, but the big things for me are the on-screen text indicating name and year of past shows interviewing him, and also a brief excerpt of his rental manga work. It's difficult to track these down.
