It’s happening now

Anyone who met Rinaldo Bellomo remembers every second of it - he was incredibly warm, selfless, enthusiastic, and inspiring. Although clearly a “numbers” person - a titanic Atlas-like figure holding the world of ICU research on his shoulders - he was first and foremost a “people” person. Vale.

The BJA is deeply saddened by the passing of Professor Rinaldo Bellomo. A leading figure in critical care research, his contributions have had a lasting impact on the field. We extend our sincere condolences to his family, colleagues & the global critical care community.

My first post on Bluesky is my saddest - saying goodbye to a legend of the ICU world. Rinaldo's enthusiam, passion and drive for ICU research was second to none. A mentor & friend to so many of us.
