I had a postcard with one of Jenny Holzer’s inflammatory essays on it from when I visited the Tate on a school trip. Recognised this as her work instantly some 14 years later, just from a glance at the typeface. Powerful stuff

This is so true! Drawing on a muted background has helped me a lot, and it really is so much kinder on the eyes. Another tip for me is to work on a bigger canvas than you need. Better to scale down a high quality image than end up with something too small/low res
