It is sad to see rival platforms go, and I am glad that the VRChat community is extending help to relocate platforms. But it's important to consider why these platforms failed, both Horizons and RecRoom pushed heavily for GenAI at the ends of their lifetimes, and it should be heeded as a warning.

Occasionally I log back in Second Life to remind myself of how good we have it on VRChat. I take it for granted sometimes. If only people knew how much they try.

Recently I discovered I've been wearing every VR headset "incorrectly" since 2018. By adjusting them into their sweet spot, I have been unknowingly correcting for my astigmatism, resulting in wearing it too high and tilted upward, giving me massive upper FOV and reduced lower on every headset.

Seeing a free 20 minute game on steam posted months ago with 0 reviews hurts to see. It's a tough audience out there.

It's been over 5 years since I last touched Outer Wilds (still haven't), and every so often I get so strong a jolt of memories about how great of an experience it was, that I become sad that not only can't I experience it again, but I realize I haven't had a similar experience in any new game since.

I went to my first con with people I'd met and known in VRChat for 2 years. I didn't feel like I was meeting anyone for the first time: I knew everyone already! In fact, meeting people in VRChat that I'd only spoken to over text and voice prior is when I felt like I'd first met them!

I was not expecting Blue Prince to be this grand of a game, my jaw is on the floor. I fear the intersection of strategy and mystery has a razor thin demographic, but for those few... This game was made specifically for me and my tastes. I just keep digging deeper and seeing the game hoped I did.

I keep thinking of making a video on "How to Kitbash VRChat avatars" but I don't know if I could explain it in a useful way in video form. It'd be how to splice avatar parts together, using clothing on avatars they weren't made for, etc. I've made tutorials for SL before but they weren't polished.

I learned how to blend fur cone normals with the base mesh without editing the geometry, so they don't make lighting seams, and I feel like I've acquired a cheat code for modeling. It's still just cones jammed into the model!
