So goes the South, so goes the nation. The fascism happening now, has been happening in the South since 2010. So please stop talking about the South as some ass backwards place. Like Malcolm X said, “as long as you are south of the Canadian border, you are south.”

People are NOT understanding what empty cargo ships from China means. It means no work for dock workers. No work for truck drivers, no work for retailers, fewer dollars circulating. The cascade effect is just mind boggling.

Just so we’re clear, everybody calling Kilmar Abrego Garcia a “terrorist” or a “gang member” are lying, and they know they’re lying, and they repeat it for purposes of confusing people who don’t follow this stuff closely into accepting what was done to him.

It is worth remembering that this political interference with universities began in the South around 2018. The oppressive tactics used to terrorize people in the south always metastasized to the entire country.Ignore what is happening in the south at your own peril. It eventually comes for everyone.

True. Also true that a lot of Americans burned things the last five years. Our militarized police attacked them and I believe there are credible accounts of assassinations.

Why crash the economy? CONTROL. Yarvin: "No, this is not the right way to run the whole economy permanently... But.. it is the right way to reboot the economy. Flattening the financial system this way makes it much easier to control crime, of course—and also, any kind of antigovernment activity."

This is why the framing of the current moment as the country suddenly becoming authoritarian drives me fucking crazy. This country has been at least somewhat authoritarian for its entire history. The *how* of it has changed over time, and what’s happening now is ramping it up. But it’s not new.

The reason that the US is locking up tourists for weeks in hellish detention centers rather than letting them book tickets back home is because the detention centers are owned by corporations. They are charging the taxpayers fortunes to cage these people, and making bonanzas off their suffering.

Cities used redlining maps to determine where they would plant trees.Redlined black areas got “no tree” whereas green-lined white areas got trees.Trees have significant environmental and health benefits. They also substantially improve one’s property value. Tree equity is much needed reparations.

America is over. There is no coming back from this. If we're lucky maybe we claw back some small-l liberalism for our daily lives. But even that might be too much to hope for. The rest of the world has to move on from us. They now know that the American people can't be trusted. They're right.
