I had heard people at #CHI2026 say that they didn't want AI-generated podcasts to be made on top of their work. While this perspective is totally understandable, I thought the podcasts could potentially be useful. But after looking up one of mine, I can't believe this feature was allowed to launch.

How are AI tools changing our writing process? In our #chi2026 paper, we find a shift in the way writers write and engage with ideas: from generating ideas to reacting to the ones AI surfaces. We call it reactive writing.

Following last week's thread on using gen AI for news, this one looks at our research on AI search results based on data from 🇦🇷🇩🇰🇫🇷🇯🇵🇬🇧🇺🇸. It's already true that most people (54%) say that they have seen AI search results in the last week. It's more common than the use of all chatbots combined (34%).
