It's the time of year when I see articles telling folks to put pet fur out for bird nesting. The Cornell ornithology lab does not recommend this! After I do the "first" read through (I've read this several times.) with highlights the sticky tabs are coming out and time to annotate the hell out of it. This is so freeing.

I was always told as a kid "don't write on walls, don't write in books. The only books I was ever comfortable writing in were text books that I owned that I knew I'd need to do it in. When my therapist told me that something in my brain just shifted. I have highlighted 2/3+ of what I've read.
