When you watch “Shiny Happy People” and there are a couple of scenes you’re pretty sure you were in the ROOM.

when you grew up evangelical and you watch a cult documentary and see something you used to believe:

baptists: “the bible says homosexuality is a sin” also baptists: “jesus meant grape juice”

Just 19 years? Heh. Lucky you. I spent the first 45 years of my Christianity not knowing there were Christians who didn’t hate gay people… or who voted Democrat… or thought social justice was biblical. I’m late to the party, but I’m here now.

Me, 19 at college at a Christian university having my mind blown cause it wasn't THAT kind of Christian university. Let's not even get into what i thought that other faiths and religions believed. I'm still undoing 18 years of bad teachings from evangelical nutcases about other people's faiths.

Went through a brief period where I sincerely thought I had originated the concept of being a queer-friendly Christian (did not realize I myself was bi until a number of years later). Thankfully there were good resources online even back then. I can only imagine if I were even a decade or so older.
