I work in logistics - we’re seeing updates for April’s transport fuel surcharge and it’s… ugly. I’ve been in this business for nearly 20 years and it’s the biggest month to month jump I have ‘ever’ seen. So when inflation goes batshit next month, that’s why - and remember whose fault it is.

The performances in ‘The Pitt’ continue to be light years ahead of everything else I’m seeing on tv right now. The Robby/Dana exchange in S2E12 was just phenomenal. Even when they’re not dealing with mass shootings and cyber attacks, the moment to moment humanity embodied in these characters is 🫶.

You know, I’m okay if we just give every cast member of The Pitt every acting award for as long as it’s on the air. Whether they’re treating a kid who blew his hand off with a firecracker, an elderly patient with gas or a dying lady with cancer they are so consistently *human* and present.

Man, Requiem is ‘gorgeous’ to look at. The dynamic lighting, the animation, the colour depth. And it moves like a song. Real question: is the RE Engine better than Unreal 5? This is seriously the best-looking game I’ve ever played.

Legitimately some of the greatest sci-fi writing from ANY medium, let alone gaming. Positively wonderful.

Edgar Wright’s ‘The Running Man’ is unquestionably a better film than the late-80s b-movie Schwarzenegger ‘classic’, but in the gloss of the big budget and special FX it also loses some of the charm. The message is just as bitter and acerbic as you would hope, though. And Powell is fine.

Predator: Badlands is… not what I expected. Now to be fair, I’m not sure exactly WHAT I expected, but a buddy cop action comedy featuring a predator and a Weyland-Yutani synth was definitely not on the radar. What it ‘was’, though, was incredibly fun. Dan Tractenberg is 2 for 2 with predator films.

Wonder Man is the best Marvel show since WandaVision and the reasons are simple - it’s almost entirely disconnected from the (now incredibly convoluted) canon, it has great performances from the 2 leads (I’ve never seen Sir Ben Kingsley look like he was enjoying a role this much) and it has *heart*.

In the latest episode of The Pitt, Dr. Al-Hashimi exasperatedly exclaims to Dr. Robby, “Just because you know the system is broken doesn’t mean you stop trying to fix it.” It’s like the scriptwriters and showrunners were breaking the 4th wall for us there. Shout out to the ones trying to fix it.

Thinking of the people in tiny Tumbler Ridge right now, dealing with unimaginable tragedy. It may not happen anywhere near as often as it does down south, but Canada is not immune to the horrors of gun violence.

Outer Worlds 2 is a game I really want to love, but numerous soft-locks and annoying bugs have tempered my interest. I’m going to put this down for now and check back later in the year with the hope that it’s been patched. Maybe Obsidian should have just released two games last year after all.
