I just want to note that have yet to come across a single academic who studies sexual violence who uses “consent” as a solution/framework for addressing it. I personally think it’s one of the least useful ways to spend time discussing causes of or how to address sexism, misogyny, or violence.

I've had quite a few people comment on this, so - yes, if you're not American and you're trad-publishing into the US market, it's very standard to do an additional edit for the American audience, sanding down local idiom. Rebecca K Reilly wrote a great piece about it from a Kiwi perspective.

I describe it as such as a historian of disability because I want to remind scientists and the world that the history of science IS the history of eugenics, scientific racism and medical racism, and more. I’m not comforting them with the idea that it was a ‘pseudoscience.’ This is your history.
