I'm happy with this post. I think this is the most permissive we've seen Yoshi-P talk about third party tools before, and it makes me feel less hopeless about everything I do. he seems to understand the passion/curiosity that drives our (and most other games') modding scene

development of Ktisis will now be taken up by @cazzar.dev and @bwuny.heliosphe.re going forward, both of whom have already made some excellent contributions in past releases. I'll be in the background helping them out where I can until they have it fully in hand. show them some love! ❤️

update re transferring Ktisis: there are plenty of people who would be able and willing to keep it maintained for patches at the very minimum, so there's no need to worry about that - but I'm deliberately reaching out to developers who I know can do a good job of building on and improving it first

Since many are using Ktisis today for the MCDF upload, I wanted to share my favorite testing Ktisis feature, Inverse Kinematics. It allows you to lock hands and feet in place, and have it move with arms and shoulders. It's very handy for people learning to pose, figuring out body positioning.

Thanks to @chirp.bsky.social, MCDFs can now be loaded with Ktisis. Can't make new ones, but we can use old ones again. It's a start, Happy Posing!

something I've been considering for a while, but I'll likely be looking to step away from XIV modding while passing development of Ktisis onto a new team, if I can find people who are both capable and willing to do so

sad to see mare taken down like this plugin developers were always aware of the risk that comes with it, but it was rare for SE to take any action against them. unfortunately, this sets a new precedent that I worry may have a ripple effect on the rest of the plugin ecosystem

a lot of people wouldn't get it, and that's fine, but this is a sad and difficult time for everyone involved directly or indirectly in the plugin community. my heart goes out to archon for having a passion project of three years ripped out from under him

Changed the gear blender addon so it can handle the old shitty ARR-gear. These materials were automatically generated with no manual adjustments (although you can easily make those if you want to). Pretty happy with it :D

IMPORTANT UPDATE: after a *lot* of testing and a group chat full of my smartest FFXIV friends, we have figured out the obfuscation is vulnerable, and that the account IDs are actually reversible. SE needs to stop sending the account ID entirely to clients and just set a hidden flag or something
