This is Nazi rhetoric. I've read the history and talked to the survivors and visited the museums. I don't use the term lightly. It echoes genocidal language used against Jews for centuries. It represents an assault on Jewish values. Every Jewish org should condemn this. Loudly. Forcefully.

I didn't know anyone who died of AIDS. I know it still happens. I'm just slightly too young. But I do have friends who saw their friends get wiped out. The human cost is incalculable, and I'd never pretend to speak to it. But the older I get I'm more conscious of what it did to NY & the theatre.

A basic and intuitive understanding of the law is that punishments should not be retroactive upon a policy change. This is even worse. There is no formal policy change, they are simply penalizing couples for following common practice - explicitly allowed by Congress - for decades.
