This year, the fight for Black Maternal Health in the #FightingFifth and across the country did not stop. During Black Maternal Health Month I authored an op ed alongside In Our Own Voice President, Regina Davis Moss, appearing in the AJC.

This year, I fought back—and continue to fight—against the Trump Administration’s assault on our public health. From standing with laid-off CDC employees to holding RFK Jr. and HHS accountable, I will never stop fighting for your health and safety.

This year I hosted 42 events across the #FightingFifth, including a Joint Town Hall this summer with Atlanta Councilwoman Andrea Boone. Meeting you where you are will always be a priority.

Congratulations to Owen Daum from Westminster Schools for winning this year’s #FightingFifth Congressional App Challenge.   Owen’s app, RogerThat, focuses on safer skies and saving lives by creating an air traffic control simulator to help pilots better understand air traffic control cadence. ✈️

This year, Ms. Caroline, a beloved Senior in the #FightingFifth, called my office and shared with my team that she was terrified as the SNAP crisis began due to the Republican shutdown. When I got the message, I called Ms. Caroline back, and my family and I brought her the food she needed to get by.

I signed a congressional discharge petition to extend the necessary Affordable Care Act subsidies. I’ve had #FightingFifth constituents tell me their premiums are estimated to quadruple in some cases, and others who are choosing to sell their businesses if healthcare costs rise. (1/2)

As Republicans attack our most fundamental reproductive freedoms in the #FightingFifth and across the country through backward laws, dangerous court decisions, and misinformation campaigns, I'm proud to introduce legislation that combats misinformation to give people seeking care their power back.

The first car showed up for the Amazon and CHOICES Thanksgiving food distribution at 4 a.m.—hours before we opened. People are hurting as Trump and Republican policies drive up costs. We stepped up, providing 2,000 meals on-site and through citywide van deliveries.

Systemic disadvantages & inequality have left communities — in the #FightingFifth and across the country — without safe, accessible spaces for children to play.    I’m introducing the PLAY Act to break down barriers & build the parks, playgrounds, and recreation spaces that all children deserve.

The #FightingFifth is home to 31,699 veterans receiving care through the VA network. During #TeamNikema’s #CongressInYourCommunity at the Clayton County Northwest Branch Library for their Veterans Resource Fair, we helped a veteran’s caregiver with her constituent inquiry to the VA.

We owe the American people, the world, and—most importantly—the survivors of these heinous crimes and their families the release of the Epstein files.
