The energy demands placed upon data centers is naturally going to vary. Generative AI is, by its nature, exceptionally demanding of resources, and a lot of people use it. It is reasonable to expect AI data centers to use more energy. “But everything uses data centers so it’s the same.”

But the specific demands of generative AI? “But they’re all data centers.” You understand a house cat is different than a tiger, right? “But they’re both cats.” Okay then.
