This is one of those papers that winds up in a prominent journal and managed to bob and weave past reviewers with statistical training. Starting with the simplest possible thing: 469 effects from 70 experiments but AFAICT, there's no explicit handling of that hierarchical structure.

Scientific progress is improving research practices. Preregistered large scale studies are now the highest quality evidence we can get in empirical research. So we should work hard on best practices for them (Red Teams, Methodological Review Boards, etc). We will always need to keep improving!

Out in PNAS pnas.org/doi/10.1073/... Inequality is not only hard to solve. Sometimes, it is hard to *see*. We ask a simple question: Do people notice when members of minority groups are absent? Across field studies and experiments, the answer was often no.

What is interesting about psychology is that they did the whole replication crisis one time before in the 1970s. It is so similar to the 2010 one, you would not be able to tell if a paper on the replication crisis was published in 1972 or 2012. See rips-irsp.com/articles/10....

Using the RLWM-LBA model (@actlab.bsky.social & @annecollins.bsky.social), we found that — as in perceptual decision-making — the CPP tracks the build-up toward a choice, here reflecting latent value estimates rather than sensory evidence.
