Watching Sister Act with the family. Great excuse to bring up the time I played the Pope as a cameo on Rainbow Stage.

You know what's urgently needed? Basic software. Reliable database systems, accessible interfaces, privacy oriented design. It's super mundane stuff like asking, "how can software make your life better", not telling people "this is how software is going to solve all your problems." Because it won't.

Sir, the economy is not great Neolib: “I’ve got this. Lay off 40,000 people who provide services to Canadians who need it most” How… will that help? Neolib: “It will save us money to buy bombs, and invest in technology that will cause mass layoffs” Ah yes, of course. That’ll fix it.

Looking forward to spending some time this winter teaching a course on creative writing for kids with my pal Jacob. Between this and Jackrabbits hockey, gonna be spending a lotta time at the local community centre.

Behind the fear: The unsolved killings in Dawson Creek, B.C. | CBC News
A year after the RCMP told the fifth estate “some level of success” was coming in a string of killings in a small B.C town, they remain unsolved and the body count continues to rise.

My son has been making “word” pins with his button press and selling them at readings I drag him to lately. He’s got a nice little punk rock hustle going!

[Lyn Venable, author of "Time Enough at Last" (If Magazine 1953) and “The Missing Room” (Weird Tales 1953), died on March 31, 2025, at the age of 97. Lyn was surely the last living person to have contributed to both the original Twilight Zone and the original Weird Tales. Last leaf on the bough.]
