to get a little personal, one of the reasons i'm glad i'm no longer in the games industry is that i found it difficult to not take statements like "the dev team doesn't care" or "they clearly actually hate this game" personally nobody loves this game more than we do. nobody cared more than us.

Some really jank math going on behind the scenes here, but it seems I got L1 (i.e. directionality) from LTCGI screens working via Light Volumes. Also does shadowing when baked right. It's an additive volume now.
