One of those weeks

Just had 1.5 litres of fluid drained off my right lung which was.... fun? Also I seem to be undead. The nurse couldn't get a blood pressure or pulse reading from me, so I eventually got the 'uhh well you're warm, sitting up and lucid so you're probably fine, go home.' XD my veins are THAT tiny/deep.

Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce. Bear with me for a second while I try to explain.

Right so I don't like to talk about the shit going on in the real world because fucking hell, just fucking hell, but sometimes it's necessary to reiterate: Trans rights are human rights, trans women are women, trans men are men, fuck racism, fuck homo/biphobia, and if you disagree go to hell.

Oof. Okay, health update. Should have posted last week but I (and everyone else in the house) have the worst streaming cold ever. Don't catch a cold when your lungs are already messed up, people. It isn't fun. I've basically spent the last week sleeping and sneezing. D8

...Well that was a 5 minute hospital appt that turned into a 4 hour appt. I got my CT scan... eventually. With bonus ultrasound and xray, because my chemo port is fubar and they can't get blood out of it :) they ended up having to dig for veins and now I have a referral to get a new port. Argh x.x

Wow, so, 2025! Honestly wasn't expecting/supposed to make it. I'm going into this year the same way as the last one: no plans, no expectations, just a resolution to survive as long as possible. Here's hoping I get to carry on defying the odds for a while, and that everyone else has a positive year.

IDK who needs to hear this, but you're allowed to like one part of a band's discography and not the other. You don't have to know the whole history of a band to be a fan. You can just simply LIKE the music. You don't need to know names of every album or song or band member. You can just LIKE music.

Chemo #7 done! And good scan news. It's keeping the cancer stable, i.e it isn't growing/spreading. The plan is I'll stay on this chemo indefinitely, until it stops working or the side effects get too serious, whichever comes first!

Chemo #6 done, so that's the end of cycle 3. Liver values came back ok so i'm back on the full dose now.

Chemo #5 done. Buh. Slightly lower dose this time as my liver apparently is Unhappy with this (I don't blame it). If my blood results aren't more normal next time, treatment gets postponed for a while.

Made a snake! Seemed like a good way to learn knitting basics. Made up the pattern as I went along (I mean it's a tube lol). It's not perfect but a decent lumpy derp noodle lol XD

Chemo #4 done. Loooong day. Left at 11am, got back 7.30pm o_<

Been trying to teach myself to knit because why not. I'm not good at it, but who cares XD

Been playing a lot of WoW. Not productive, but passes the time! I'm not 'good' at WoW. I'm the worst casual, I don't do raids and group stuff. Just wander round having stupid solo adventures and picking flowers/rocks lol. Currently alternating a derpy derg and a derpy worgen. :p

Just the usual chemo side effects with this drug so far. Brainfog, constant lowgrade indigestion, everything tastes of cold/warm spit. We'll see how bad the mouth ulcers get when they show up but nothing unexpected so far.

Chemo #1 of probably 6 done. Next one in 2 weeks. No problems with the port thank goodness! (Though half my chest is a spectacular bruise rainbow right now lol)

MRSA test results were negative, whoo! Chemo port goes in tomorrow, then chemo monday if all goes well. (Must try to eat everything nice in the fridge this weekend before I'm back to a diet of yoghurt, soup and Ensure lol)

Welp. Got a positive MRSA swab so port surgery and chemo are cancelled. Now in a world of antiseptic body wash in hope we can kill it. No more crochet for the forseeable, while in theory it's fine i'm not risking infecting anyone/reinfecting myself via germs on wool. :/

I don't have a problem honest. Currently crocheting madly to take my mind off getting a port inserted and restarting chemo next week, or possibly not, because all my appointments clash with each other. Not a clue at this point. Tomorrow more phonecalls. x.x

Fishy fish. Working on an intelligable pattern at the moment. Gotta minimise the fiddly-ness! One thing I'm learning is I seem to have a high tolerance for fiddling about, and when the pattern is no-sew there's a lot of that.
