Beautiful 17-mile run along the River Avon today, following it all the way to the sea, with pals Ed and Didac for company. South Devon in all its splendour.

Went for a midday run on Tuesday and then straight to the beach, where I didn't wear a hat or bring any water. I'm usually fine with the heat - I actually love it - but I overestimated my powers and the next day came down with heatstroke. Lesson learned. Hopefully. Stay hydrated, people.

Depending on your world view, you can see the slow times (on the track at least) at the Enhanced Games and think either: A, the drugs clearly don't do much after all and real competition and effort is key. Or, B, clearly everyone is already doping, that's why taking PEDs made no difference.

I'm still blown away by the sub-2hr marathon, but I was thinking about the shoes. They clearly help the elites, but my feeling purely from anecdotal evidence is that they're not much helping mid-packers running between 3hrs and 5hrs. Anyone in that range feel the shoes have transformed their times?

I know some will raise their eyebrows and say these mind-blowing marathon times in London must be down to doping, so it's worth pointing out Sawe has been undergoing an unusually rigorous testing process for the last two years in an effort to prove he is clean www.theguardian.com/sport/2025/d...

Sawe and Kejelcha ran the 10K from 30km to 40km in the London marathon today in 27:36. If you've ever run a 10K, you'll know just how insanely fast that is for a 10K mid-marathon.

THE GREATEST RUN IN HISTORY 🤯 Sabastian Sawe takes OVER A MINUTE off the world record in the marathon and becomes the first-ever sub-2 hour runner in an official race with a 1:59:30 victory over Yomif Kejelcha, who also breaks two hours in his debut marathon, running 1:59:41 for second.

The leading women look like they're hammering a 5K, not running a marathon. It never fails to blow my mind how fast they run. They've just hit 10 in 31:03. Man! #londonmarathon26

Settling in to watch the London Marathon. The elite women's field feels so small - maybe 25 athletes? You would imagine the world's best marathon could stump up for twice that in the elite field. As it is, so many of them will get left running most of the race completely alone, which isn't easy.

Last year I set myself a goal to run a 5K in under 18 minutes (something I hadn't done since 2017). "Breaking-18" I called it. A few weeks ago I finally did it, running 17:46 at a parkrun. But just to erase any doubts, I did it again last night in a bona fide race www.strava.com/activities/1...
