The government is officially shut down. Make no mistake: Republicans control the House, the Senate, and the White House. This is THEIR shutdown. They had every tool to govern and chose chaos instead. The American people are the ones paying the price.

As many as 4 million federal employees, including some service members, could go without a paycheck. Hundreds of thousands -- including airport security officers, air traffic controllers and certain members of the military -- will be told to come to work anyway. ICE agents also go without pay.

Just astounding. The reason they can shove through 100 Trump nominees at once is because the GOP changed the rules to eliminate the 60-vote requirement. Something they won’t do to fund the government. Yet they blame Dems.

We could have a real and serious policy debate on the ACA subsidies. Whether they should be capped at a fairly high income level is one good faith debate. But Republicans don’t want that. Instead they have decided, as usual, that lying is the best plan.

Trump summoned the top American military officers stationed around the world to VA to tell them that the enemy they should be primarily concerned with now is American citizens.
