And, SDFs are solely under the control of the governor. They CANNOT be federalized.

Read up on State Defense Forces. There's a whole legal structure in place to accommodate them. Where the National Guard is functionally the "regular" militia, SDFs are the "irregular" militia. Only about 20 states currently have active SDFs. Minnesota's is currently deactivated.

If police and sheriffs won't protect communities, and the National Guard might be unreliable, then @governorwalz.mn.gov needs to reactivate the Minnesota State Defense Force. Average people are already going to bat for their neighbors. It's time to give them legal protection and state power to do it

I was just denied access to the ICE processing center at the Whipple Building. Members of Congress have a legal right and constitutional responsibility to conduct oversight where people are being detained. The public deserves to know what is taking place in ICE facilities.
