Some days, the good things aren’t easy to find. But if you’re looking, you’ll see plenty around. It’s in the background and out in plain sight. Good things happen all the time. - Layup 🎶

I called Canadian Premiers Doug Ford and Wab Kinew today as we try to find a way through this unnecessary and costly trade war. While the President may not value the partnerships that contribute billions of dollars to our economy, Minnesota does.

We had to get in on the video action too — Bluesky now has custom feeds for video! Like any other feed, you can choose to pin these or not. Bluesky is yours to customize.

In the meantime, try
@bookmarks.bluecanary.dev
. You report a post to it to add to your bookmarks, and report again to remove. It exposes a feed of your bookmarks back to you that you then pin to your blueaky feeds lists Works well for me. No silly public pushpin emoji.

Everything you know about wrinkly fingers is probably wrong. Particularly, it is not a physical act of water on the body, it is a neurological effect of the body on itself. People who have fingers with severed nerves do not prune on those fingers.

In the past month alone, over 12M people joined Bluesky, with daily active users growing 10x. We received more reports in two days than in all of last year, and have integrated new systems and quadrupled our moderation team to try and keep up. Sometimes, we have to work quickly to correct errors.

It took a few days to a couple of weeks to get verified on Twitter. On Bluesky, you can self-verify in minutes with your website as your username. Plus, our moderation team is labeling impersonation accounts within days (not weeks)!

The deep goal of bluesky is to decentralize the social internet so that every individual controls their experience of it rather than having it be controlled by 5 random billionaires. Everyone thinks they signed up for a demuskified twitter...we actually signed an exciting and bizarre experiment.

While Bluesky looks like other social apps on the surface, it’s actually quite different. It’s an open network. I blogged about it here:

By popular request, here's how to add Bluesky replies as your blog's comment section! This requires some technical know-how for now, but I'm hoping that we see some no-code solutions for this pop up soon, like Ghost or Wordpress plugins.

saying “don’t be evil” doesn’t mean anything if we can’t hold them accountable for it *everything* we do is open source — the code for both the protocol & the social app is public. if we ever went rogue, people could take the reins from us easily

the internet is not separate from real life at this point — i’ve spent too many years on various platforms making real friendships, finding jobs, etc to believe that distinction so our social identities & relationships online should be under our own control, not a private company’s

one of bluesky’s mottos is “the company is a future adversary,” so we have to design this service in a way that preserves user choice & freedom users should own their data, identity, and relationships on the social internet, and devs should never get locked out of the ecosystems that they build

resolved: people who insist that all social media sites must be places where users are constantly encountering and arguing with people over fundamental disagreement do so because their actual, real lives are echo chambers where they do not encounter any meaningful difference from day-to-day.
