Today I biked really slowly in front of a waymo, only to speed up when it tried to pass me. If you fuck with a waymo, you can really feel that it's an actual person driving it remotely. Robots don't get mad like that, that's ego, that's emotion. that shit is not a fucking ai, that's a driver.

3d Pasta Printer is the only technology I've heard about in like 5 years that makes me feel that "Wow, we live in the future" feeling again. Like a tiny fraction of the emotion people must have felt watching the first moon landing. This is as close as we're ever getting again.

The reason that there are so many dad games is that some men had careers long enough that they both 1) gained the political capital to pitch and then execute a project with those themes 2) were able to sustain a career long enough that it was viable for them to parent while still work* in games.

I have a weird beef with those "Restored" SNES game osts on youtube where they find the original full quality samples from the romplers or whatever, and replace the gritty SNES samples. That's not restoration, distortion is part of the instrument. Do not imply this is a new, higher fidelity cannon.

saw Shin Godzilla for the first time. I love how they mix all eras of the series's music and sound design. It fucking rules to hear the 70's funk guitar, the 60's hyper tape saturated orchestra/sound effects, right alongside the modern high fidelity stuff.

to make anything with care that gives your audience an honestly interesting and real experience, you need to do more things bespoke than anyone wants to pretend is true and the more you try to automate or shortcut the hard truth of that away from you the more work you will throw away.

a) Some video games are genuinely better without voice acting (see: Undertale) b) Voice acting is so much cheaper than people realize. I'm directing an indie game and even at SAG rates, with as much voiced dialogue as Hades, we're probably not going to break even $30k. One session is like $500.
