Refugee rights are not linked to your value to the economy, they are linked to your inalienable value and rights as a human being.

If such performative cruelty worked, then May, Patel, Braverman, Cooper and now Mahmood would have all been a success. The fact that they all clung to the same hostile environment policies, despite them obviously failing, shows not only a lack of competence and morality but also of intelligence.

Twenty years is not a probation period, it is a lifetime. If someone has lived here for nearly two decades, worked, paid taxes, raised children, and built roots, then to say “pack your bags, your country is safe now” is not policy, it is cruelty dressed up as process.

If this policy were part of creating processing centres in France and opening safe routes for anybody with a chance of being granted asylum, then it might make some sense in terms of encouraging people to apply in France rather than risk their lives in boats. But of course, it's not. Despicable!

WTF! These are people not numbers on a page. How can you expect refugees to integrate, feel pride in their new home or work for the common good if you treat them like animals who can be expelled at any moment? What about the children of refugees who only speak English? You'll deport them like Trump?
