#SFFChat Q4 I might have shared this before but here we are again. Zak aimlessly wandering alone for days, from Clipped.

#SFFChat Q3: In Clipped, Zak often lost track of time, having no real way to keep it. Sleeps a lot. In Coven Thing, they keep time as they do in their respective time periods, & also follow the moon phases cuz that's when their magic is the most powerful & gathering the coven to meet is easier.

#SFFChat Q2: If it behooves the environment. i.e. in Clipped, Zak had a lot of walking outdoors, alone, so I liked to play with the day/night cycle, as well as weather. In fact I would guess I don't think so much about the time of day rather than the weather itself. It can still rain at night.

#SFFChat Q1 In Coven Thing, the coven spans different generations and geographical locations. The four main characters range from living in the 1600s to the 1990s. They can only meet in their covenspace which is outside of time.

#SFFChat I'm Kyew aka KQ Watson, I write horror, sci-fi and fantasy I guess? Usually with a twist of humour. My favourite time of day is after midnight, when the house is quiet and time is my own. Also I'm a huge believer in Revenge Bedtime Procrastination. Google it.

For Clipped: Zak: Missionary, between a man & a woman with lights off & the purpose of procreation. It's not his fault, he wasn't taught anything different, but I bet he'd be one heck of a voyeur. ie: "What's a kink?" (Redacted): Nearly anything, but he's no one's submissive and he always tops.

Something I thought would be "fun" with Elf Thing, which focused on poking tropes, was pretending Junkers was telling the story to a fellow elf, who was also born & raised in the land so I could skip all the lovingly lyrical descriptions of scenery & stuff. ie: They visit The Town of Towntown a lot.

Zak is the protag of CLIPPED, an angel who sacrificed his wings instead of lose the memory of his son. He falls to a dystopian earth & oh man, it's so bad. He's despondent, repressed & has to learn how to live among mortal sinners. It's not great for him y'all. He enjoys chain smoking & puzzles.

I've officially hit a huge roadblock with Elf Thing and have abandoned it and fully pivoted to Coven Thing, which is now 4400 words. Writing is hard. #amwriting #indiewriter #writesky #writingcommunity
