I think that this basically explains why my poor 1980s matured head has been hurting for the last decade.

I’m paying my accountant a small fortune. But she isn’t making the money because she has had to reduce her clients to make the workload manageable. And the quarterly filings don’t even count towards the actual tax return. It’s an astonishing heavy administrative burden.

This (DS) is a very peculiar take. We stopped Catholics from living in London, owning horses and arms, and punitively taxed them. Into the 19thC they - with Jews and dissenters - couldn’t enter university or hold civil/military posts. Mostly this should remind us how intolerance was once endemic.
