What's the difference between Trm and exhausted CD8 T cells? Simone Park's new work dissects this important question. These cell types are often confused, but are ontologically and mechanistically distinct with implications for immunotherapy responses.

Seeing my colleagues succeed brings me so much joy. Canāt wait for the āproud PIā moments to come from my lab. Iāve already asked my trainees how they like to receive recognition and they are both the quiet email types. This will be a challengeā¦gotta rein it in!

The best advice I received about hiring was always hire people smarter than yourself. Iāve taken that very seriously, plus added my own criteria āvibesā, and I am so excited for the new Minnie Lab team members to start soon!!

We set out to quantify U.S. academic contributions to medicines. The results stunned even us
From 2020 to 2024, universities contributed patents underpinning 50% of FDA-approved drugs. 87% of those academic breakthroughs came from American institutions.

Hiring freeze at the same time as starting a lab will keep things interesting. Got one hire through the door before it happened at least. This tech really wanted some hands-on training and boy are they going to get it š

I think one of the most important parts of mentoring is having empathy for your trainees. Firstly, things being harder now for junior people doesnāt mean that things werenāt hard for you at the time. Ie. I would NEVER have gotten into a PhD program these days with my track record back then.
