I'm a big fan of this. Remote work helps businesses thrive in the places people live, accommodates the different needs of all employees, and broadens talent pools. Dragging knowledge workers back into the office to "save downtown" is bad policy that hurts workers and communities. It needs to stop.

While @beynate.bsky.social remains an MP, we are saddened to hear that such a strong voice for solving the housing crisis will no longer be a Cabinet Minister. In his short tenure as Minister, Nate set the tone on housing, taking action to lead at all 3 levels of government. /1

Unequivocally, housing prices are too high and must go down. Here in Ottawa, if we choose to "make sure the market is stable" and hold housing prices flat, it would take 17 years to even see 2016's prices again. We wouldn't see 2002's fairly-reasonable prices until 2061.

I've been strongly in the "hey, let's give the new guy a chance, he's got some skills that could really come in handy" camp when it comes to the new Housing Minister (See my piece in the Hub). But even I have to admit he's had a disastrous 24 hours. thehub.ca/2025/05/14...

There’s a lot in today’s housing announcement, but the key takeaway is ambition. We are meeting the challenge with a comprehensive plan to drive down the costs of home building and to reassert a forceful government role in getting affordable housing built.
