Odd take. Music is a subjective, aesthetic experience. Not against self-interest to grow, expand palates, knowledge. You can even choose to learn from work you don't care for, whether indie or corporate. Most "self-interest" is what's familiar. Most promos I see (and make) are invitations to expand.

Watched a wild documentary on Netflix last night called CATEPILLAR (2023). The subjects and their dilemmas are real but the filmmaking is engrossing enough as a character study that it often has the feel of an arthouse narrative. Recommended.
