Players of the beta for upcoming Hoyo title Petit Planet have noticed there’s an AI chatbot featured and at least one barista NPC whose dialogue is generated by AI Fans of their titles are defending it saying “this is a good use of AI” and “you can’t stop AI at this point.” This is from the TOS:

The part about agreeing not to use what the AI says as real advice (and that it’s likely to give out erroneous information) stands out, especially given the recent news stories about chatbots encouraging users in ways that are detrimental to their mental health. I highlight it out of concern.

Heads up for folx playing Arc Raiders: Embark has openly stated (in an interview with GamesRadar+), that the game uses the same AI voice tech as The Finals, and the CEO has talked about using AI to generate 3D models from YouTube rips. If you're anti-AI you should not be playing Arc Raiders!

Not to be the fun police but I do hope people know that Arc Raiders does use generative AI for voice acting, and by supporting the game you're letting higher-ups know that this is an okay practice. They try to downplay this on the Steam store page by describing the AI usage as vaguely as possible.
