pretty is extra. pretty is nice. it can enhance communication. but it's in no way *necessary* for it. and communication will always be what comics is actually about. pretty without that is not comics. it's just nice pictures in squares

"easy for you to say keez your comics ARE pretty" yeah but that came after. and trying to make it pretty enough and good enough has been more of an obstacle to telling my stories than *literally anything else in my life.* I had to give up on that before I was able to actually do this realistically

listen my advice for learning to make comics is will. always be: try. it won't be good. don't expect it to be. that's not why you're doing it. I don't care if you wanna do art or scripts or editing or colors or lettering or what. just try it. you'll be BLOWN AWAY at what just TRYING it teaches you

Okay so to be fair his design isn't always THAT drastically different - a lot of the time he does go for a humanoid shape and wears clothes to help define that shape, and that's still based on his old design. Still a shape-shifting ink nightmare tho hehe
