the most annoying thing about the #bskycensorship is that the tools are already built to ensure youth are protected via confirming their accounts are 18+ to view adult material, and the equivalent of spoiler labels allow adults to toggle or click to consent to see artwork with sensitive topics

Also, rules like this make it INFINITELY harder to avoid. When you disincentive proper tagging because people aren't sure how your vague rules might punish them, you make it so we end up seeing content we could have avoided if the rules had been "mark this so people can avoid it"

This is censorship. Full stop. There is no law against drawing these things, only the tendency of Bsky to think it's icky. And I know what it's like to have my art pulled for being "icky." Solidarity with pornographers. I'm not joking. We are siblings and we need to act like it.

While I am generally not the target market for any sort of nonconsensual sexual content, there is absolutely no world in which you can trust to the discretion of moderators in judging this sort of thing. It will always end badly, and in a different place from where YOU thought the line was.

i'm against the new TOS because no matter how uncomfortable you are with certain subjects, it's very easy to see how bad-faith interpretations of art could be weaponized, especially against marginalized artists, who are more likely to be targeted for harassment #bskycensorship

Gonna go even further: don't refer to it as "consuming media" when doing this. You aren't a consumer - it's not a product. You read books. You look at art. You watch movies and/or videos. Be careful about word choice. Reject "consume" and REJECT "CONTENT." IT IS ART. YOU ARE ENGAGING WITH ART.

what fucks me up about the Bluesky TOS update is fucking every adult creator i know wants MORE labels and filter options. we WANT more granular control over the labels and spoilers we can put on our work so people who want to curate their timeline to avoid us CAN DO SO
