I was thinking about using UE5 for an experiment but fuck it. Sweeney has a Musk-like mentality. Every time he opens his mouth, he goes deeper in a hole of bullshit that degrades the game development industry. In silence, with his mouth closed tight, Tim Sweeney is a poet.

This system works really well when combined with strong layers. Here the water and dirt are in layer 0, grass layer 1, trees layer 2 and so on. They stack similar to how they would in 3d. If you have to render in a single layer, though, there are better autotile systems like the one in RPGMaker.

Also, funniest damn thing. I'm enraptured by Cairn. I did work on Dolmenwood. By all accounts, the Wildwood Manuscripts would make a lovely Cairn type setting. Alas, Cairn already exists within an implied woodland setting. So it'd be a hat on a hat. Albeit, it is just about tools anyway.
