The Earldom of Bastet is overrun by cats. 🐾 The goddess of the same name protects them, making them magical creatures. Alongside domesticated felines, the rural area of her domain boasts cheetahs, leopards, and lions. Most people in the kingdom describe the desert oasis of Bastet as paradise.

Aldous comes from Ventus, which is known for having the largest animals in the world. Mammoths are the biggest land creatures (that the kingdom knows of 😏), and the whalers bring back far larger beasts from the sea. So if Aldous sees signs of something massive living in the forest, he’d know.

Aldous is an immigrant who tries to fit in, but everything about him and even the horse he rides on makes him stand out. Heiden loves to stand out. The first thing everyone notices about her is the large grey fur lined pelisse she wears over her shoulder to signify she was an outrider.

Picked up a few books I had on hold at the Library and I’m pretty sure I’m the first person to check out this lovely book. I’m too scared to even open it.

My word of the day: extirpated. Means a species isn’t extinct, just gone from a region. Would be perfect for my scene, but probably too obscure to use. I don't even think the context helps. (Although it's a first draft) “I haven’t seen one in years” will work, I guess. #AmWriting #WritingLife
