Just to be clear: - Paracetamol does not cause autism. - Sadiq Khan is not introducing Sharia law in the UK - We do not have a massive free speech problem here. - Britain is not on the verge of civil war. These are not controversial subjects or contested, they're just not true.

Lurching, spasmic, incompetent chaos. An alternative—which would be better for all Americans—is careful consideration, public debate, and transparency before extreme policy change. That is why we have procedures for legislation and rule-making, and we don't just sledgehammer with proclamations.

The president has now "fired" Governor Cook. Neither does he have that authority nor is there evidence of the allegations nor is presidential control of Federal Reserve policy a good idea. Stand tall and unbullied, Lisa Cook.

This action by Lisa Cook is courageous, principled, and deserves broad support.

No one would have any confusion about what is happening if they saw it in another country.
