Just returned home from the anti-ICE protest in Portland today. A 100% peaceful crowd that the Portland Police Department (PPD) estimated to be "in the thousands" marched past ICE's Portland HQ. ICE, of course, responded with a barrage of tear gas and chemical rounds to suppress free speech.

It's hard to overstate how ell-organized the portland march that got gassed was... organizers made the crowd promise to be peaceful, said the march would slow in front of the ICE building but not stop, that we would stick to one chant (ICE Out). They did absolutely everything right and got gassed.

DHS has a whole citizen detainment system set up in Minnesota. They snatch citizens off the street (often with proof they are citizens), detain them for a few hours, steal their phones, then release them into the cold. It ain’t about deporting citizens; it’s about terrorizing a whole population.
