It is so incredibly silly that the NBA industrial complex convinced itself that Houston should not include Amen Thompson in a hypothetical trade for Giannis. Amen has about 0.0% chance of ever providing 60-80% of Giannis‘ value

I wanna speak on this. My it-is-time-to-trade-giannis position hinged on the impression I had that giannis determined he would leave. If he wants to stay???? Never ever ever ever trade no matter what

Some tea-leaves in Shams' piece suggest MKE is pursuing the right strategy: leverage the moment for maximum picks and good young players. "[MKE] is willing to navigate... [Giannis's] future in the offseason if... blue-chip young talent and/or a surplus of draft picks isn't met."

I am a commissioner at the Federal Trade Commission. Earlier today, the president attempted to illegally fire me. This is corruption, plain and simple. I will see the president in court. My full statement:

Can’t emphasize this enough: if you’re feeling overwhelmed by the debased assault on our country, the antidote is connecting with other people in the flesh who are feeling the same way. There are millions of us.

But avoiding comment on the fundamental civil rights issues at stake in this case - namely, our right to full access to the ballot, including safe and secure absentee voting options - does little to strengthen our democracy:

Brown v. WEC
On March 1, 2023 Law Forward, on behalf of Black Leaders Organizing Communities (BLOC), moved to intervene in Brown v. WEC, the latest in a long line of attacks access on absentee voting.

This lawsuit openly targeted Racine's efforts to make voting more accessible, and the Court was right to toss it.

this is the "merit" two-step. first, you strongly imply or state outright that the presence of anyone who isn't a straight, able-bodied white man is unfair "DEI," then you argue that just because an institution is all-male and lily-white doesn't mean there is discrimination. that's just merit!

The next step in restoring meritocracy is to reject the theory that proportionate outcomes equal fairness.
