I shouldn't laugh. This "mildly positive" person has a very high chance of dying. But Dr Mackay is right. When it comes to this disease, positive is positive. I suppose one can be "mildly pregnant", but the implication is that you're going to get a lot more pregnant in coming weeks.

Every suspected hantavirus case took a commercial flight to get home. They were in crowded airports and on airplanes. They weren’t isolated. They weren’t instructed to mask. No precautions were taken. The lack of precautionary principle is maddening. If you’re traveling, wear an N95.

I think it is time to do some discussion of what the current known state of the Hantavirus outbreak means for management going forward. To be clear, this may peter out. but always best to hope for the best, plan for the worst. 1/

I’ll be honest: I’m not loving how this hantavirus situation is looking, and I’m also not loving all the public health scientists out here downplaying it and prematurely telling people not to worry. Even if this turns out to be nothing, it’s not good for building trust.
