2025 is a phenomenal year for film. It's not October yet, but it feels like a Big One. We're getting movies reflective of the times; that we don't have to live in hopelessness, and that we can still fight, and be kind. Or, as ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER says it:

Kimmel's always worn his emotions on his sleeve, and when he says he's grateful, I believe it. It didn't feel like he compromised himself at all. It's a small victory. But it feels significant in a way that not much else has in a long time.

There is SO MUCH going on in this movie about our current politics, racial dynamics, and what resistance looks like. But it's all wrapped up in an funny and propulsive action thriller with a sweet father-daughter relationship at its center. It's weird, angry, sweet and fun, and it 100% works.

I’ve never seen a clearer case of “The candy coating makes the medicine go down smoother” in cinema than ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER. It really is impressive how entertaining the movie is. And it’s not empty calorie fun either. It is truly audacious.

If I had to guess tonight's secret screening at Fantastic Fest, it's either FRANKENSTEIN or THE RUNNING MAN.

Better see this. People wanting original stories, relevant to today, and full of optimism and joy? This is it. Better show up.

It’s so rare to be halfway through watching a movie and realize you are watching one of your favorite films for the 1st time. Another PTA masterpiece. I am vibrating I am so happy with what I just watched. It’s a novel as a film, everything Inherent Vice wanted to be but executed PERFECTLY. In LOVE.

ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER: Paul Thomas Anderson has crafted THE movie for 2025. It has its fingers directly on the pulse of America, and may be the most relevant movie right now. While it’s an important work, what’s stunning is how incredibly entertaining it is. Righties will loathe it. Fuck ‘em.

I watched THE MANDARLORIAN AND GROGU trailer. I will say seeing that McQuarrie image come to life gave me goosebumps. The rest? We'll see. It looks fun and kinda weightless, but weightless may be a good thing. STAR WARS needs an easy entry point these days, and this looks like it may be one.
