Bikemore is hiring an organizer to launch the Baltimore chapter of Families for Safe Streets, advocating for life-saving changes and providing support to Baltimoreans affected by the preventable epidemic of traffic violence. This is a 24 hour per week part-time role with room to grow.

Big Jump Project Update: Baltimore City Department of Transportation has selected concrete jersey barriers as hardening treatment for The Big Jump across the 28th Street Bridge. Installation should begin 9/25. The rest of the Big Jump install will finalize at the same time.

Today Baltimore City Council's Land Use and Transportation Committee voted to repeal parking minimums citywide by supporting @zacblanchardd11.bsky.social's Spaces for People Act. On to the full council!

The third bill, scheduled for September 18th, is no less significant. It will permit the construction of apartment buildings up to six stories high using a single staircase. This makes it possible to build much more creatively, and densely, on small or awkward parcels.

In Pittsburgh, they’re smart enough to treat their waterfronts like the social and environmental assets that they are. There are multi-use paths, boardwalks, parks, and abundant nature along the city’s rivers. Baltimore MUST do better than a freaking dump!!!

On Sunday we delivered a ghost bike to the celebration of David Herman, who was killed by a driver while riding his bike on 7/4. We installed the ghost bike today. We also put flowers on Nathan Krasnopoler's ghost bike on Sunday. He died Aug 10, 2011, months after being hit.

@bikemore.net the willingness of The City to turn over the protected bike boulevard downtown to random events without notification or alternative accommodation is repetitive and infuriating. Great evening to run the gauntlet between Lombard and Baltimore streets.

A 58 year old man biking in the 900 block of Ensor St was killed by the driver of a car this evening. If you have any information on this crash, please contact BPD and Bikemore. Ensor St is a six lane arterial, and was supposed to have a separated bike lane installed by 2021.

Don't always believe the signs. It's been legal to ride bikes and scooters on the promenade for a decade. A Bikemore volunteer recently documented all of these old, incorrect signs, and @bmorecitydot.bsky.social has removed them. Biking is allowed 24/7 on the promenade outside the Inner Harbor.
