Spent a great day at Tradepoint Atlantic. With 1,100 new jobs for Longshoremen coming online by 2028, we need to double down on making sure these jobs go to Baltimoreans. We need to build career pipelines and improve transit to the Port. Also, the tariffs are devastating for this industry.

During tonight’s City Council Hearing the Director announced a pay raise for our sanitation workers! These women and men do one of the most dangerous jobs in America. They deserve safety, respect and just compensation. The Council will continue to fight for our workers.

Between 2019 and 2024, there were 6 deaths and 1,627 injuries at DPW. Amidst the filth, and grime, in the heat and cold, they kept picking up our trash. Too often, the voices of workers were ignored. The Council will not allow our sanitation workers to be treated like trash.

Workers have always stepped up for Baltimore. It's time for Baltimore to step up for our workers. Couldn't be more excited for the Labor and Workforce Committee and the leadership of Chairman Jermaine Jones. Let's get to work!

I was proud to unanimously pass a resolution calling on the PSC to End Multi-Year Plans and Cancel BGE’s 2026 rate increase. Enough is enough. A medically compromised elder had to choose between oxygen or electricity. We will fight for our residents. Not BGE’s shareholders.
