For better or worse, I think New World contracts are here to stay. Given my view that consumer consent is a fiction, contract law should be retooled with this understanding in mind. This means far more guardrails on contracts to address power asymmetries.

It’s so hard to grasp why anyone would think that the company’s whose lobbyists are blocking KOSA are the actual champions of the well-being of teenagers rather than the champions of their ability to exploit the vulnerabilities that are a proven attribute of adolescent development.

Too often techie’s seem to feel that parents are an obstacle to a child’s well-being rather than the party more trustworthy with it than a commercial actor. Wishing tech people would resolve their own parent issues enough to evaluate whether parents or corporations are more self-interested.
