Magnus Archives is a great RPG, if anyone is interested in spooky or supernatural investigations. Rather than a gun toting badass, or an axe wielding barbarian, or a magical savant, I play as a Scottish historian whose greatest superpower is recalling poetry linked to particular locations. Been playing Invisible Sun again recently, as a Weaver. Still the best magic system in any TTRPG I've ever played. The creativity you need, and the trust in the GM to rule fairly, makes for a great cooperative system. Shadow of the Demon Lord however... That has the greatest written spells ever.

Quote with a title screen that is important to you. This image always reminded me that despite the giant mech battles, this was a world filled with people affected by the greater conflict. Soldier's and civilians alike. It was a great choice for a title screen, it gave gravity to the story for me.

Work on my Forged in the Dark RPG, The Stymphalians, continues. The 1st pass on character background choices is complete, and the playbooks are soon to be developed into a playable state. A stripped down version of the character sheets will be designed alongside. Slow going, but going all the same.

A TTRPG book is not just a compendium of rules, but inspiration for creativity, a helping hand, and one of the most important choices a player can make is their character's name. So I'm currently typing name after name after name, for a list of examples for players to choose from. So many names.

What games have I played this week? I GMed my weekly Blades in the Dark game; played an F.B.I agent in Ghost Hunters; and was an old Stoic Weaver in Invisible Sun. Next week? Ghost Hunters, Starfinder, Traveller and Blades in the Dark. Ooooh!

Page by page I'm getting things going with The Stymphalians. The technical writing, the rules writing side of things is tough, I've never had to do something this big before. But it's such a joy to punctuate it with prose that establishes the fantasy of it all. This feels good, and doable.

Writing on the book is in full swing. I'm able to dedicate a good four hours a day to it, which is good considering home life and kids needs.

All of my major design elements for The Stymphalians RPG are completed for the first pass, I now have to compile them and begin writing the first iteration of the rule book. Things are moving along.

My time in the comic book industry came to a close recently, and it's had me on a bit of a downer. But extremely positive reactions to the early chapters of 'Hiraeth', my modern fantasy novel, have brought my mood up quite a bit. Motivation is at a high.

Starfinder's been a great game to play. I'm not big on crunch when it comes to RPGs, but our GM is bowling us over with some very cool set pieces and story beats. It also helps to have a confident and talented party to play with. I'm constantly made jealous by their abilities to act and improvise.
