In my intro to socio class we discussed distinctions between Department of Defence vs Department of War as well as audience, ethos/logos/pathos, what it means to be an American, and the diachronic nature of such terms. I hope they take away from class that they have to think for themselves.

Great news! I had to say that I couldn't do something today and I channeled my latent masculinity. Every word, phrase, even syntax, I thought "would a man say this?" and while I know I inconvenienced someone I had to do it. And then I got what I needed. Amazing.
