On 23rd May 2025 an Israeli airstrike hit the Al-Najjar family at their home in Khan Younis, Gaza. Nine of their ten children, aged between six months and twelve years old, were killed. Their father, Dr. Hamdi Al-Najjar died from his injuries shortly after, and their mother pediatrician Dr. Alaa Al-Najjar escaped the strike unharmed. Adam is the only surviving child of the Al-Najjar family. ‘Song for Adam’, directed by Jamila Al Adwani, was made in memory of the Al-Najjar family and all those who have lost their lives in Gaza.
