Having polluted air is a policy choice that is made at the municipal level. And likewise having clean air is a policy choice.

Civicus Monitor just downgraded U.S. democracy from “narrowed” to “obstructed,” saying “We are witnessing a rapid and systematic attempt to stifle civic freedoms that Americans have come to take for granted, such as critiquing authorities and protesting peacefully.” Why is this not front page news?

Today’s episode of “there is a better way.” Helsinki went a full year without a car-related fatality. For the 90th million time, we ask-why not here? Why can’t we have the healthy, safe, secure, efficient, civilized goods others have: schools free of mass shootings, safe sidewalks, health care…

It’s hard to take expressions of remorse seriously when they don’t surface until public exposure. Does Larry Summers regret his actions - or the fact that they were exposed? “I am deeply ashamed of my actions and recognize the pain they have caused,” Dr. Summers said in a statement Monday.

I can’t stop thinking of all the things the Dems could have done besides cave. Imagine the gesture of solidarity if they had donated 100% of their salaries during shutdown to food pantries? Or set up their own: “Dinner from the Democrats!” I’m gonna pivot and channel my energy & rage into primaries.

Let’s all stop buying cheap disposable clothes, even if the price is tempting. It’s crap for the planet, the workers & for end of life management. Be honest: most of the time we have other options. Yes, durable clothes are more expensive, but last longer so we can buy less. Or buy better stuff used.

How bad does it have to get before R Senators realize standing by this man is not good for their career or their legacy? Clearly it’s not good for the country, but that’s not enough to move them. At some point, some of them have got to stand up and say “this is wrong” and stop enabling him. When??
