Flying out of Boston this evening to go back to Tanzania! It's quite a convoluted itinerary. I'll fly to Dubai, then after a 12 hour layover, fly to Kenya, to Dr es Salaam in Tanzania, then finally to Moshi

I usually hate flashbacks in TV shows. They feel like they interrupt the flow of the story and place too much emphasis one or two past events that shaped the characters. But I'm watching Broadchurch series two and am liking how they use flashbacks.

Decent Imaginaries
The digital sphere appears to be at an inflection point and we need to imagine what comes next as this era rots and burns. Imagining a renewed, decentralised world is difficult, but we can pull it off...

Shopping on Amazon for a phone case. You can filter for anything but phone model—which is the most important detail! Searching for Samsung case and getting results for iPhone! We are nowhere near the computers taking over the world. Or if they do, we are all in trouble.

I have a bad habit of overthinking things, but I am learning that sometimes the best way to learn something is to get your hands dirty with it.

There are definitely benefits to standard file formats such as plain text, but the devil is in the details! I wrote some thoughts about files and apps:

"it’s easy to get caught up in creating abstractions everywhere. We see two screens that look alike, or two features that behave more-or-less the same, and our first impulse is to create a shared class or component to keep things DRY."

WordPress Full Site Editing looks extremely promising. There have been site editor plugins for years, but none of them were enjoyable to use. There are definitely a bunch of questions to answer and kinks to work out, but it's very exciting!

I hiked down into the Grand Canyon yesterday. Because of the heat and elevation gain, it was probably the most strenuous hike I've ever done. But the views were absolutely worth it!
