50 years ago today. A TTC bus operating stalled on the tracks east of Scarborough GO Station and was hit by an approaching train. Nine people lost their lives.

i grew up in jane & finch as a kid. i remember being there when they were initially planning this line and promised a fast, new train to replace the overcrowded finch bus. i was excited back then. all i can say is i feel insulted this whole project feels like an insult to communities along finch

Any update @ttcriders.bsky.social @moretransitso.bsky.social on this. The Mayor @mayoroliviachow.ca and Councillor @joshmatlow.bsky.social requested a report on this later in 2025. It is a priority that proper full active TSP is on given on Line 5 & 6 so the billions wasn’t wasted on slower trips.

Canada can be better at urban rail transit today, heres how we do that: - Prioritize speed - Prioritize reducing opex - Improve Capex efficiency - Upload more transport responsibilities to feds, Overhaul approach to create a national strat. and standards - Increase int. collab., reduce US collab.

Where would he find funding for the refunds? That would be quite a lot of lost revenue. And if there won’t be any lost revenue due to increased reliability, where will he find funding for those infra/service improvements? He’s also against bus and streetcar lanes so this, again, is all posturing
