also, Spotify doesn't pay royalties at all for tracks with less than a thousand streams. and sometimes if an album gets a sudden surge of fan interest, Spotify deems it "unusual listening activity" and just removes the album, as happened to my last EP.

And it’s not even that much for most artists since they changed the minimum payout thresholds per song. Most small artists are basically donating tracks to Spotify in exchange for being on the platform at all.

Last night I went to my first concert in almost six years, @lizzyhilliard.bsky.social's birthday show at the Francis Kite Club. It was extremely good. 😊 (It was a small venue and I was wearing an N95 mask with a SIP valve; I can't say I wasn't nervous, but I judged the risk acceptable.)
